Summer Discovery Program

Looking for a fun and educational summer program for your kids? You’re in the right place.

 

Our 10-week Summer Discovery Program is a full-day program available for rising 5K through 8th graders. Campers will enjoy engaging, educational and creative activities throughout the day. Daily snacks and healthy hot lunches are provided. Plus, Summer Discovery campers receive a 50% discount on regular tuition for the week they are enrolled in a mini-camp. Space is limited.

Mini-Camps

NEW! This year we are offering a variety of mini-camps for your kids to enjoy, including soccer, art, cooking, literacy and more. Mini-camps will be offered June 13 - August 5. Mini-camps are available as add-ons to the Summer Discovery Program or as stand-alone options for children not enrolled in the full-day program. Lunch can be added for $40 per week. Space is limited.

Soccer Shots

Join Soccer Shots in an exciting week of soccer as campers develop or hone soccer skills with the additional aspects of character and creativity. Our camp takes place on an outdoor, grassy field with an indoor rain location if needed.  Experienced coaches provide children with fun activities that include soccer games as well as a variety of other age-appropriate experiences, including skill building exercises, team building exercises, and character building exercises. Our caring team of coaches positively impacts children’s lives on and off the field through best-in-class coaching, communication, and curriculum.

Clay Sculpting

Join Ms. Susan Larimer as she leads budding artists in an adventure of 3-D sculpting! Sculptors will journey through creating their own 3-D projects using a variety of materials and then decorating their masterpieces. Ms. Susan has used her MAT in Art Education to teach children art for over 30 years in public and private schools, for the Department of Defense, and for the City of Columbia’s Art Program.

Flour Power

Join us as we cook recipes from celebrity chefs to include Rachel Ray’s Pizzas, Giada’s Stuffed Shells, Neely’s Thumbprint Cooks and Paula Deen’s Molten Lava Cakes. We’ll even have an Iron Chef Challenge and a Cupcake Wars Challenge.

Literacy Legends

Join Mrs. Lawson to become a Literacy Legend! We will embark on our journey by using multi-sensory techniques to study words, read books and perfect our writing skills. We will dive into books by other literacy legends, using the Orton Gillingham method. Mrs. Lawson has taught many years in public schools, has her masters degree in special education, and is certified in the use of the Orton Gillingham Method of teaching literacy.

Art Camp

Join Mrs. Meredith on an adventure in drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, printmaking, all while learning about art history and important artistic concepts! Teaching and projects will be differentiated according to your child’s age and abilities This program promotes critical and creative-thinking skills with a focus on problem-solving and self-expression. At the end of the camp you will receive an email about what we worked on during class. Students’ artwork will be archived in a digital art gallery.

Sports Superstars

Join Coach Bert Williams as he brings a multi-layered sports camp to Shandon Weekday School this summer! Coach Bert has been a PE teacher at Meadow Glen Elementary School for 10 years in Lexington School District One. He also brings coaching experience in baseball (assistant coach at Dreher High School), football (assistant coach at Meadow Glen Middle School) and basketball (assistant coach at Meadow Glen Middle School).
