ABOUT

Shandon Weekday School is a licensed preschool and school-age child development center and has served children and families of the Midlands since 1958. The preschool program serves children ages infants through 4K; the school-age program serves children after school during the school year and in a full-day summer camp environment when school is not in session. Our goal is to provide a joyful, nurturing environment to foster social, physical, spiritual, and intellectual growth of all children. Curriculum and activities are designed to spark the interest of and meet the individual needs of each child while also providing for each age group's needs and interests. Shandon Weekday School places great importance on giving children the necessary tools to be lifelong learners. SWS supports children of all races, creeds, and religious backgrounds.

PROGRAMS

FULL DAY PRESCHOOL

The Full Day Preschool program is a twelve-month program for children Infants (8 weeks) through 4K. Children finishing 4K are guaranteed enrollment in the school-age programs if desired.

  • Program Hours:                Monday through Friday,        7:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

  • Hot lunches and snacks served daily.

  • Weekly music class.

  • Enrichment opportunities in piano, art, ballet, gymnastics, soccer, and karate available for an additional fee.

  • Enrichment opportunities in music, foreign languages, computer skills, and field trips are included in our curriculum where developmentally appropriate.

  • Children transported in state-approved mini buses.

  • Richland School District One's calendar observed for national holidays and emergency closings.

  • Open-door policy.

  • Two teachers per classroom.

AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT

The School-Age Program is a year-round OR school-year-only (parents' choice) program for children 5K through grade 8 enrolled in public or private school. Children in these programs are guaranteed enrollment in Summer Discovery if desired. "Summer Discovery" summer-only program is described at right.

  • Program Hours:                 School year: 2:30 to 6:00 PM Summer: 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM

  • Children are grouped into rooms according to grade in school, one grade per room.

  • Transportation available in state approved mini buses from AC Moore, Rosewood, Meadowfield, Brennen, Brockman, and Satchel Ford Elementary Schools and from Crayton Middle School when enough demand exists. Middle schoolers from Hand walk one block to our facility along a prescribed route.

  • All-day school-age program available subject to Richland School District One's holidays and closings. No additional fee charged on these days. Hot lunch served.

  • Enrichment opportunities in piano, art, dance, gymnastics, karate, soccer, and field trips for an additional fee.

  • Snacks provided each day and hot lunches on full days.

SUMMER DISCOVERY

The Summer Discovery Program is a summer-long program for children 5K through grade 8. Children in Summer Discovery who do not attend throughout the rest of the year must submit a waiting list form for summer enrollment.  Enrollment is waiting-list dependent. 

  • Program Hours:                     7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

  • Summer Campers are grouped into rooms according to grade level in school, one grade per room.

  • Each camper will enjoy outdoor play multiple times per day, healthy, hot lunches prepared on site, healthy snacks, ice cream truck visits, scavenger hunts, science experiments, cooking, reading, water play, and field trip opportunities.
